Wenn Gangster nach einem Coup jemanden brauchen, der sie sicher aus der Gefahrenzone bringt, wenden sie sich an den „Driver“. Er ist der Beste, denn Fahren ist nicht nur sein Beruf, sondern auch seine Leidenschaft. Aber ein ehrgeiziger Cop hat sich an seine Fersen geheftet. Als er von einem neuen Auftrag erfährt, legt er sich auf die Lauer. Nur mit Hilfe von „Player“, die ihm ein Alibi verschafft, entkommt der Driver. Verärgert sinnt der Cop nach Rache: Er inszeniert einen Raubüberfall und heuert den Driver dafür an.

I love Hill's stuff, I think the car chase sequence is great and how Hill captures a city's landscape is amazing ( 48 hrs (my favorite) and The Warriors has that trademark as well.)
