Der korrupte Millionär und Müllmagnat Harry Brock lebt mit dem blonden Dummchen Billie Dawn, ein ehemaliges Chorus Girl, und hat genug von ihrer Einfalt. Er engagiert den Zeitungsreporter Paul Verrall, ihr Benehmen zu verfeinern, damit sie "präsentabel" wird. Schneller als gedacht, entwickelt sich Billie zur cleveren Frau, die die Machenschaften ihres grobschlächtigen Geliebten aufdeckt und mit dem liberalen Zeitungsmann das Weite sucht, nicht ohne Brock vorher eine Lektion zu verpassen.
