Zwischen Mülltonnen entdeckt der desillusionierte Arbeiter John einen Karton mit Sonnenbrillen, durch die er Werbetafeln als manipulative Propaganda zum hemmungslosen Konsum und einige Mitbürger als skelettähnliche Aliens erkennen kann. Gemeinsam mit einer Gruppe Widerständler, die ebenfalls hinter diese außerirdische Invasion gekommen sind, nimmt John den bewaffneten Kampf auf und wird daraufhin als Terrorist gesucht. Nach wilden Verfolgungsjagden und heftigen Feuergefechten gelingt es ihm, in die Kommandozentrale der Außerirdischen einzudringen und die Maschine zu zerstören, die ihnen ihr menschliches Aussehen verleiht.
