Mein Nachbar Totoro
Die 8-jährige Satsuki und ihre kleine Schwester Mei ziehen mit ihrem Vater, einem Universitätsprofessor, auf das Land. Sie wollen in der Nähe ihrer Mutter sein, die sich in einem nahe gelegenen Krankenhaus von einer schweren Krankheit erholt. Ihr neues Zuhause ist ein altes Bauernhaus, das einige Zeit unbewohnt war. Beim Spielen auf dem Hof entdeckt die kleine Mei eines Tages ein winziges Wesen mit einem Sack, das Eicheln sammelt. Sie folgt ihm in den Wald und klettert durch das Gestrüpp. Plötzlich fällt sie in ein Loch im Stamm eines riesigen Baumes. Am Ende des Loches trifft sie auf den fest schlafenden Totoro, eine riesige fellige Kreatur, die fast so groß ist wie ein kleines Haus. Die Kinder freunden sich schnell mit dem magischen Wesen an und erleben gemeinsam mit ihm viele tolle Abenteuer.

Aggressively cute. 'My Neighbor Totoro' holds an extremely hearty story, one told via impeccably beautiful animation.
