A Thousand and One
Der sechsjährige Terry hat ein alles andere als einfaches Leben. Seine richtigen Eltern kennt er nicht und seine Pflegefamilie lässt ihn ebenso im Stich. Schon eine ganze Zeit sieht dies die kühne und freigeistige Inez mit an, bis sie eines Tages beschließt, Terry zu helfen. Nachdem Terry aufgrund eines kleinen Unfalls im Krankenhaus landet und von Inez besucht wird, fühlt er sich zum ersten Mal in seinem Leben halbwegs geliebt. Spontan, aber mit Terrys eifriger Komplizenschaft, bringt sie ihn aus dem Krankenhaus, um ihm ein besseres Leben im schnelllebigen New York City zu ermöglichen. Nachdem zehn Jahre ins Land gehen, sieht die Welt des mittlerweile jugendlichen Terry ganz anders aus - zum Positiven, aber auch zum Negativen. Erst jetzt kommen Probleme zwischen der selbsternannten Mutter und dem Adoptivsohn auf, wobei Terry besonders mit Unsicherheiten bezüglich seiner Identität konfrontiert wird.
