Biografie
Monte Jay Himmelbaum war ein US-amerikanischer Filmregisseur, Produzent, Autor und Editor. Hellman begann seine Karriere als Editor-Lehrling bei ABC TV und gab sein Regiedebüt mit dem Horrorfilm Beast from Haunted Cave (1959), produziert von Gene Corman, Roger Cormans Bruder. Später erlangte er Kritikerlob für die Western The Shooting und Ride in the Whirlwind (beide 1966) mit Jack Nicholson in den Hauptrollen sowie den Independent-Roadmovie Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) mit James Taylor und Dennis Wilson in den Hauptrollen. Zu seinen späteren Regiearbeiten gehörten der Slasher-Film Silent Night (1989), Deadly Night 3 und der Independent-Thriller Road to Nowhere (2010).
