Le onde del destino
Film in un prologo, 8 capitoli e un epilogo. Bess ha deciso di sposare Jan, tecnico su una piattaforma petrolifera, nonostante il parere contrario degli anziani della comunità che non apprezzano l'ingresso di un 'estraneo'. Bess, che ha un dialogo interiore con Dio, ama Jan con tutta se stessa, corpo e anima. Un giorno lui rimane vittima di un incidente sul lavoro che lo immobilizza per sempre su un letto. Chiede allora a Bess di rifarsi una vita perché la comunità non le consentirà mai di divorziare: deve fare l'amore con un uomo e poi descrivere a Jan quanto accaduto. A lui sembrerà di rivivere sensazioni che non può più provare. Bess inizialmente oppone resistenza ma poi decide di cedere. Per amore.
