Inghilterra ai primi dell'Ottocento. Vivono gli amori e i sentimenti di Anne Elliot e della sua famiglia nobile ma in difficoltà finanziarie. C'è un amore lontano e segreto, che poi ritorna. C'è la bella magione avita che deve essere affittata e ci sono tanti caroselli sentimentali e dolorosi. Alla fine tutto si compone.
