In una zona desertica del Guatemala prende fuoco un pozzo petrolifero. Quattro disperati vengono ingaggiati per raggiungere la zona con due camion carichi di nitroglicerina per far saltare il pozzo. La missione è pericolosissima, ma i quattro - un corso, un muratore toscano, un tedesco e un avventuriero parigino - non hanno nulla da perdere.

Four men are stranded in, quite literally, a dead end town with no money to get out. All they do each day is kill time, drink and get gradually more disillusioned. Then their luck changes.
