Nel 1939, l'alchimista francese André Toulon riuscì ad animare un pupazzo, Jester, che però dimostrò subito intenti omicidi. Cinquant'anni dopo Alex, un malato psichiatrico, indaga sulla faccenda e scopre che il segreto della vita era in una arcana formula egizia, sulla quale all'epoca pure i nazisti avevano fatto delle ricerche. Toulon si era suicidato proprio perché tutto ciò non finisse nelle mani dei tedeschi. Anche dopo tutto questo tempo, però, c'è ancora qualcuno disposto a uccidere per la formula. Non solo: il pupazzo killer risulta a piede libero...
