Il fiume rosso
Nel 1851 un allevatore, Tom Dunson, decide di stabilirsi con un fedele amico, Groot Nadine, e un giovane orfano raccolto lungo il cammino, Matthew Garth, presso il confine settentrionale del Texas per crearsi una propria mandria. La fortuna arride all'uomo, che nel giro di quindici anni diventa ricco, ma la ricchezza ha il suo prezzo ed egli non è più l'uomo generoso di un tempo, anzi, è diventato duro con chiunque lo contrasti, compreso il giovane Matt, nonostante lo consideri ormai come fosse il proprio figlio.

Perhaps not a film you'd expect to work given the stars, but John Wayne and Monty Clift do manage to convey a sense of a repectful, but loving relationship - something I don't recall ever seeing before (or since) in a Wayne film towards another man.
