Nel Marocco del 1942, la spia canadese Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) e la spia francese Marianne Beauséjour (Marion Cottilard) sono complici in una missione: loro malgrado s'innamorano e Marianne accetta di sposare Max e andare a vivere con lui a Londra.
