Nel 1983, una calda estate segna per sempre la vita del diciassettenne Elio, un musicista più colto e sensibile dei suoi coetanei, che ogni estate trascorre le vacanze nella villa di famiglia. Il padre, un professore universitario, come ogni anno ospita uno studente straniero per lavorare alla sua tesi di post dottorato. L'arrivo di Oliver, ventiquattrenne statunitense, per la sua bellezza e i modi disinvolti, sconvolge la vita di Elio, che se ne innamora immediatamente. I thought this was an all right movie, but I didn't care for it that much. I know it's hugely popular, but for me the story wasn't all that moving and Hammer's casting was just one I thought was off, but for me it wasn't a favorite. Granted I've seen worse, but I've seen a lot better too.
