
Manon delle sorgenti
Sono passati dieci anni dalla morte di Jean de Florette. Ugolin si è arricchito con il commercio dei garofani e dichiara il suo amore a Manon, che lo respinge. Per vendicare il padre, la ragazza tappa la sorgente che alimenta il villaggio e accusa pubblicamente Papet e Ugolin dell'omicidio di Jean. Disperato, Ugolin si impicca. Quando Papet verrà a sapere che in realtà Jean de Florette era suo figlio, il colpo per lui sarà durissimo: si lascerà morire, lasciando tutto il suo patrimonio a Manon, sua nipote e unica erede.
