James Bond scopre che in un misterioso traffico di gioielli falsi provenienti dall'Urss sono invischiati un principe indiano, un generale sovietico e un'affascinante quanto misteriosa donna che si fa chiamare Octopussy, proprietaria di un circo che serve come copertura per il traffico dei preziosi. Ma il vero scopo dell'organizzazione criminale è quello di introdurre in Germania un ordigno nucleare. Sesto Bond per il cinquantacinquenne Roger Moore, il secondo diretto da John Glen, il tredicesimo della serie. Cuba, Karl Marx Stadt, Londra, Udaipur, Berlino e una base statunitense nella Rdt sono le località in cui 007 (e i suoi stuntmen) compiono i tradizionali prodigi.
