I fratelli Addison e Liza, sono in fuga dopo una rapina ad un casinò finita male. Quando un incidente d’auto causa la morte del loro autista e di un poliziotto, i due saranno costretti a dividersi cercando di raggiungere la frontiera canadese, mentre su di loro incombe una tormenta. Mentre Addison si da alla fuga attraverso la campagna creando caos lungo la strada, Liza trova un passaggio da Jay (Charlie Hunnam), un ex-pugile che torna a casa per trascorrere il Ringraziamento con i suoi genitori, June (Sissy Spacek) e lo sceriffo in pensione Chet (Kris Kristofferson ). E’ li che i fratelli si ritroveranno, riuniti in un emozionante faccia a faccia che spingerà i legami di famiglia al limite.
