Satoru Mikami, impiegato trentasettenne senza particolari soddisfazioni, muore accoltellato per strada e si risveglia in un mondo fantasy sotto forma di slime. Ribattezzato Rimuru Tempest dal drago Veldra, scopre di possedere un potere capace di assorbire e replicare qualsiasi cosa incontri.
