순수한 사람들
유부남 툴리오는 주변의 시선에 아랑곳하지 않고 그의 정부와 놀아난다. 하지만 이에 불만을 품은 툴리오의 부인은 젊은 소설가와 정을 통하면서 욕망을 채우기 시작한다. 반면 정부와 관계를 맺으면서도 허전함을 느끼는 툴리오는 아내의 외도를 알아차린 후 복잡한 심경에 사로잡힌다. 급기야 아내의 임신 소식을 듣고 툴리오는 극단의 선택을 감행하기에 이른다. 비스콘티가 어릴 적부터 친분을 맺었던 가브리엘레 단눈치오의 동명소설이 원작으로, 극중 젊은 소설가는 단눈치오 본인을 모델로 했다.
