Michel Marsilya'da bir otomobil çalar ve yolda bir polis öldürür. Paris'te Champ Elysees'te New York Harold Tribune gazetesi için stajyerlik yapan Patricia'yı bulur. Daha önce birkaç kez birlikte olmuşlardır. Michel polis tarafından aranırken eski arkadaşlarıyla buluşup Roma'ya gitmek için gerekli parayı elde etmeye çabalar. Ancak ikisi de duygularından bir türlü emin olamaz. Başının polisle belaya girmesini istmeyen Patricia büyük bir ikilemde kalır. Onun bu kararsızlığına aldırış etmeyen Michel ise tam bir güven içinde son hazırlıkları yapmaktadır.
