Kahraman Şerif
Hadleyvile kasabasının başarılı şerifi Will Kane, Amy ile evlendikten sonra tehlikeli işini bırakıp, karısıyla kasabadan ayrılmaya karar vermiştir. Aynı gün, yıllar önce hapse attırdığı bir haydut olan Frank Miller'ın hapisten çıktığını ve intikam almak için kasabaya dönmekte olduğunu öğrenir. Kasaba halkının ve karısının ısrarlarına rağmen onunla yüzleşmeye karar verir. Fakat kimse destek olmaz. Bir anda yalnız kalan şerif, Frank ve çetesiyle tek başına yüzleşmek zorunda kalır. Tek yardımcısı eski sevgilisi Helen Ramirez'dir. Son anda karısının desteğine kavuşan Will, dört haydutla savaşır ve kötü anında yalnız bırakan kasabasını onurlu bir şekilde terk eder.
