Bisher war das Leben der 14-jährigen Susie Salmon nicht gerade sonderlich aufregend. Sie konnte wohlbehütet im Schoß ihrer sie liebenden Familie aufwachsen. Sorgen und Streit entstehen meist nur aus kleineren finanziellen Engpässen. So ist es ihren Eltern, Abigail und Jack, unmöglich, alle 24 Filme, die Susie in kürzester Zeit mit ihrer neuen Kamera verschossen hat, auf einmal entwickeln zu lassen. Aber selbst die Enttäuschung darüber verblasst sofort, als sie erkennt, dass sich ihr erster Schwarm, Ray Singh, auch für sie interessiert. Gerade an diesem Nachmittag begegnet sie auf dem Heimweg von der Schule George Harvey, einem Nachbarn, der sie in einen unterirdischen Bunker unter einem Feld lockt und sie dort tötet. Nur kann sie sich noch nicht ganz vom Leben, von ihrer Familie, von Ray und von ihrem Mörder lösen und verharrt in einem Zwischenreich, von dem aus sie die anderen fortan beobachtet.

This was a very good movie. I never heard of this movie so i was watching my tv,lazy day so i left this on my tv and i was really interesting movie. I will give a 9 out of 10
Without the rape, from the book, the movie loses all potency and gravitas. In what universe is there a Pro-Harvey/childraping/murderer?
