Mezzogiorno di Fuoco
Willy si dimette dal suo incarico di sceriffo proprio il giorno delle sue nozze con Amy, una ragazza quacchera della quale è da sempre innamorato. Quando viene a sapere che con il treno di mezzogiorno sta per tornare in città un pericoloso fuorilegge, si sente in dovere di riprendere la stella e di affrontarlo. Ma i cittadini che cerca di proteggere, impauriti, gli negano l'aiuto e così Willy dovrà cavarsela da solo. Fred Zinnemann, si ispira al racconto _The Tin Star_ di John Cunningham, e dirge un film in cui il tempo in cui si svolge l'azione coincide con il minutaggio effettivo.
